Construction of a plant is to get under way in 1990, with a production start-up later that year. Full production of 90,000 tons boric acid should be achieved during the second year.
A solution mining method will be used to extract the boric acid, which has application in glass- making and ceramics. Project reserves are estimated to be 147.4 million tons grading 6.4% boric acid.
