No word on Ontario incentives

Several interesting ideas have resulted from a discussion paper on new incentives for mineral exploration in Ontario, says the assistant deputy minister for the province’s mines ministry.

John Gammon says the most favored ideas are tax credits for investors and an incentive tied to exploration success. These are being discussed by the Ontario cabinet, but no programs have been proposed, he says. Since the paper was released last year, several workshops have been organized to discuss the proposals. Recommendations were made by the Prospector and Developers Association of Canada, the Ontario Mining Association and the Save Our North lobby group.
