Venezuelans view vat leaching plant

A small Venezuelan mining delegation recently viewed the vat leaching technology developed by NovaGold Resources for the extraction of gold.

Gerald McConnell, president of the Halifax, N.S.-based company, says the Venezuelans were impressed by the fact that the process consumes water yet does not produce chemical effluents.

In Halifax, the delegates toured the gold-testing pilot plant at the Technical University of Nova Scotia where indoor vat leaching experimentation is under way.

They also visited the M-Tech mineral processing laboratory where gold is extracted by a heavy mineral separation device known as the “KMS” separator.
