U.S. REPORT Ball mill shuts down Oracle Ridge

An electrical fault in the stator of the ball mill at the Oracle Ridge mine has temporarily shut down operations.

Oracle Ridge is an underground copper-silver-gold mine in Arizona, 70% owned by South Atlantic Ventures (VSE) and 30% owned by Continental Catalina.

Previous difficulties with the installation of the ball mill held up bringing the mill on stream for almost six months. The operation finally started up in March, and achieved an overall availability of 98.3% during April and May prior to the shutdown on May 28.

The shutdown period will be used to make a number of changes to the mill circuit to improve control of the operation as well as increase copper recoveries.

The company expects the repairs will be completed in time for an early June startup.
