Teck to split shares

Shareholders at Teck Corp.’s annual meeting in January will be asked to approve plans to split its Class A and B shares on a two-for-one basis. Teck claims that with the increase in market price for its shares in recent years, a split would result in a price more attractive to small investors. The company also announced a dividend of 13 cents a share on its Class A and B shares, payable Dec 31, which brings the amount paid this year to 26 cents , up from 20 cents in 1986.
