Although drill results from the Copper Prince property of Rainbow Petroleum (RBP-A) are less than satisfactory, the company believes things will improve at depth.
Rainbow is drill-testing a major shear zone which extends, in an east-west direction, across the 16-claim property, situated near Sudbury, Ont. Untested geophysical targets are being drilled, as are sulphides from four previous drill holes.
The company has drilled five holes in a 15-hole program on the property. Most intersections measure less than one metre, with low copper, nickel, cobalt and gold values reported. Hole CP-96-3, the best hole, intersected 8.68 metre of 0.60% copper, 0.14% nickel, 0.06% cobalt and 0.42 gram gold per tonne, as well as narrower intervals of lower-grade mineralization.
Anomalous metal values have been identified over a 300-metre width of the shear zone, and Rainbow believes they could represent the surface expression of high-grade deposits at depth.
A downhole electromagnetic survey is under way in an effort to define drill targets further.
