Plaster Rock work to continue

The first phase of drilling on NovaGold Resources’ (TSE) Sewell Brook project near Plaster Rock, N.B., failed to uncover any significant mineralization, but did help to pinpoint alteration zones that warrant further investigation, said project manager Don Burton.

Financed by Kennecott Canada, NovaGold tested several geophysical (IP) anomalies discovered on the 162-claim property after a drill hole hit a 33-ft. interval grading 20.6% zinc in 1990.

Kennecott is earning a 50% interest in the property by spending $3 million on exploration. Approximately 4,000 ft. of drilling was completed during the latest program.

In the New Year, the partners will drill some deep holes on the property to follow up encouraging alteration. Other senior companies, including Noranda (TSE) and BHP-Utah Mines have also completed drill programs in the Plaster Rock area.
