PCS reaps profit during first quarter

Saskatoon, Sask.-based Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (POT-T) has posted another good quarter, with potash and phosphate prices showing strength in the domestic markets.

Over the first three months of the year, the company earned US$56.4 million (or US$1.18 per share) on revenue of US$465 million. During the comparable period in 1996, earnings amounted to US$63.7 million (US$1.40 per share) on US$367 million.
