Drilling on the Central Inlier property in Jamaica has returned significantly better gold grades than previous attempts.
Orvana Minerals (TSE) drilled four test holes on the Bennet zone, using techniques aimed at improving recovery.
The holes were drilled on four previously drilled sections, returning an average intersection of 28 grams per tonne over 5.2 metres. Twenty previous drill holes returned an average width of 5.8 metres and a grade of 9.6 grams. Core recovery of the new drilling is about 83% whereas that of the previous holes averaged only 56%.
The zone now measures 120 metres on strike and 100 metres downdip. The width varies up to 14 metres and the structure remains open on strike to the east, as well as downdip.
Current efforts are aimed at testing the downdip extent of the zone, and further drilling will attempt to establish grade and tonnage for a potentially open-pit resource.
