The property is between Wolf Lake and the Liard River, about 55 miles north of Rancheria on the Alaska Highway.
The company says it has “confirmed the existence of a large disseminated gold-bearing hydrothermal system” on the property, and is seeking additional financing from a New Zealand company called Jarden Morgan NZ.
However, no specific details of the recently completed work program were released by Oropex. Previous surface trenching on the property uncovered an area measuring 22×3 ft which contained anomalous gold values in sheared sedimentary rocks. Values of up to 0.18 oz gold per ton over 1.1 ft were reported from the showing.
The New Zealand financing deal, currently under review by Jarden, would see the latter company contribute $1.5 million toward further exploration to earn a 50% interest in the Oropex claims. The acquisition of Oropex shares on the open market is also part of the deal with Jarden. Oropex has also been invited to tender an offer to acquire a 50% interest in a property in t he Macraes Flats region of the Otago gold camp in New Zealand. The proposal, subject to regulatory approval, would involve the issuance of 100,000 Oropex shares, various work commitments and an exchange of mineral properties. The company says it is considering the inter-listing of its shares in New Zealand.
