Kickoff talks at the Toronto Geological Discussion Group will include presentations on discoveries in the Sudbury nickel camp and on techniques in diamond exploration.
James Patterson, vice-president of exploration with FNX Mining, will present “The FNX Story” on Sept. 20. FNX has been exploring for nickel in the Sudbury area for the last four years and has a record of increasing resources on known deposits. Patterson will discuss the new discoveries in the Sudbury camp.
On Oct. 4, Matt Manson, president of Contact Diamond, presents “The State of the Art of Techniques of Diamond Exploration.” Contact, whose highest-profile holding is its Timiskaming diamond project on the Ontario-Quebec border, also holds properties on Melville Peninsula in Nunavut and near the East Arm of Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories. Manson, a geophysicist by training, will discuss some of the approaches Contact takes to diamond exploration.
Both talks will be held at 4 p.m. at the Ontario Club at Wellington and Bay Streets in Toronto.
