A system developed by Falconbridge involving permanent cathode technology and automated stripping for electro-refining copper (the patented KIDD PROCESS) has been acquired by Kennecott Utah Copper Corp. of Salt Lake City, Utah. Falconbridge will transfer information and equipment so Kennecott can update its refinery for the Bingham Canyon operations.
