Base metal exploration in the Val d’Or area of Quebec received another boost when it was announced copper stringer mineralization had been intersected on the Bourlamaque Twp. property of Wrightbar Mines. Performing the drilling is St. Genevieve Resources, which has an option to earn a 50% interest in the southern portion of the property (where it is drilling). Trading about 1.75 million shares, Wrightbar climbed 29 cents to 66 cents , while St. Genevieve slipped 5 cents to $2.21 on a volume of 113,900.
Welcoming an exploration partner for its Courville gold property northeast of Val d’Or is Parquet Resources, which gained 2 cents to 13 cents on 19,400 shares. Cache Exploration has been granted an option to earn up to a 50% interest in the project by spending $3 million on exploration work during the next three years. Trading 17,500 shares, Cache moved up 1 cents to 70 cents .
Societe Miniere Louvem and its project partner (and subsidiary) Monique Exploration report recent drilling at the Monique gold property east of Val d’Or has confirmed the extension of a gold- bearing lens above the property’s known zone, as well as to a minimum depth of 1,100 ft. Trading 88,700 shares, Louvem dropped 13 cents to $9.25, while Monique rose 13 cents to $1.18 with 72,500 shares changing hands.
A private financing worth $500,000 is being arranged by Chabela Minerals, which has exploration programs planned for its Vauquelin claims in the Val d’Or area and its Hagey claims in northwestern Ontario. Chabela fell 1 cents to 12 cents on 37,400 shares.
Drilling is under way at the Poirier zinc property near Joutel, Que., where initial holes have returned encouraging assays, project partners Ressources Minieres Forbex and ASE-listed Bonanza Metals report. Forbex gained 4 cents to 40 cents on 52,000 shares.
