Mining active when Toronto was just an outpost

Thunder Bay, Ont., has played a direct part, as has all of Northern Ontario, in the mining community. In many respects, northern Ontario, as well as northern Quebec, have been the seminal geographic focus for mining in Canada. Mining was happening in northern Ontario when Toronto was nothing but a trading post.
