Successful bio-oxidation testwork on sulphide mineralization at the open-pit Daisy mine in Beatty, Nev., has enabled Toronto-based Inter-Rock Gold (IRO-T) to increase its reserve estimate for the project.
Within four deposits — West Zone, SNA, Secret Pass and Mother Lode — the total reserve estimate has been raised to 15.3 million tons of oxide ore grading 0.02 oz. gold per ton (0.69 gram gold per tonne) and 2 million tons of sulphide ore grading 0.05 oz. per ton (1.71 grams). These calculations are based on a gold price of US$390 per oz.
Testing is nearly complete, with a 7-Ton sample in the final weeks of cyanide leaching. Gold recovery after 47 days is about 75%.
Based on these results, an estimated recovery of 70% is being used to determine reserves for both the Secret Pass and Mother Lode sulphide deposits.
Gold production from Daisy — currently derived from the oxidized Secret Pass and West Zone deposits — is progressing on schedule and has yielded 5,231 oz. for the first four months of 1997. Production, aided by the installation of additional carbon column recovery equipment, is expected to increase to the targeted monthly rate of 2,500 oz. by August.
Exploration, consisting of drilling and geophysical surveying, will continue.
Inter-Rock owns a 65% interest in the Daisy mine, with the remainder held by operator Rayrock Yellowknife Resources (RAY-T).
