Drilling on the Huckleberry property near Kemano, B.C., has confirmed the presence of a new zone of copper mineralization about 4,000 ft. east of the main deposit.
New Canamin Resources (VSE) discovered the new East zone earlier this year while drilling a water quality-monitoring well. It intersected a 25-ft. interval at the bottom of the hole grading 0.89% copper.
Eight holes were drilled around the discovery, all of which contain significant chalcopyrite mineralization, both disseminated and within quartz stockwork veining.
New Canamin can earn a 100% interest in Huckleberry from Kennecott by spending $1.5 million. Kennecott can retain a 60% interest at the time of a production decision by paying 150% of exploration and development expenses above the $1.5-million earn-in amount.
New Canamin has completed about 25,000 ft. of infill drilling on Huckleberry in an effort to outline a higher-grade reserve within the existing deposit. Previous operators estimated preliminary reserves to be about 85.6 million tons grading 0.4% copper and New Canamin is working on a reserve estimate for the higher-grade core.
The eight holes on the new East zone were centred on the discovery hole, identifying a area of mineralization measuring 600x200x400 ft. deep that is open on all sides and to depth.
New Canamin expects to receive permits shortly for 10,000 ft. of further drilling on the East zone, comprising twenty 500-ft. holes on 200-ft. centres. Hole Interval Width Copper
