Alberta-listed Gitennes Exploration is planning a winter drill program for both its wholly owned Fishhook property and the Toy (GBK) play, on which it has a 50% earn-in option.
The program will consist of a minimum of 3,000 ft. Situated 120 miles northwest of Yellowknife, N.W.T., the properties cover extensions of the Damoti Lake folded iron formation belt. The belt hosts the Damoti Lake project, in which Gitennes has a 25% interest and where recent drilling returned 74.5 ft. of 1.13 oz. gold per ton from Hole 94-87. Further results are expected shortly.
Mapping and sampling on the Toy option property led to the discovery of a deformed iron formation with a strike length of 3,000 ft. and a width ranging from 4.3 to 49 ft. Channel and grab samples returned values of up to 0.75 oz. over 1 metre. Gitennes can earn a half interest from Tanqueray Resources (ASE) by spending $600,000 by the end of 1996.
Meanwhile, on the Fishhook property, several iron formation structures were found, with one target (exposed for a strike length of 400 ft.) returning 0.36 oz. from a grab sample taken over a width of 3-6.5 ft. Sampling and mapping are continuing, and Gitennes is conducting geophysical surveys to determine continuity over areas of extensive overburden.
