EDITORIAL PAGE — Reforming WCB

The business community in the province of Ontario appears to be solidly behind the government’s proposal to reform the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB). Most agree that the WCB system should be based on sound financial principles, including, to name a few, improving the ratio of assets to liabilities and eliminating its unfunded liability.

These reforms are long overdue. It is time to ensure that workers’ compensation be returned to the insurance principles on which it was founded, and that it be limited to work-related accidents.
