Beep Mat improves

The National Research Council of Canada has granted Instrumentation GDD $59,000 to continue research on the “Beep Mat,” an exploration tool used to detect metallic mineralization. Edwin Gaucher, the inventor, will use the money to refine the new “active shield” system, a discovery designed to reduce ground noise by 70% and improve the Beep Mat’s ability to detect gold and copper mineralization.

The Beep Mat is an electromagnetometer — a geophysical instrument used to detect the electromagnetic properties of rocks. It consists of a single coil inserted into a polyethylene shell and attached to a separate readout module.
