BC reclassifies land package

In a move designed to spur investment in British Columbia’s interior, the provincial government has reclassified 550 sq. km of Crown land and opened it up to mineral exploration.

The land package consists of four areas: 320 sq. km at Kwadacha, about 225 km southwest of Fort Nelson; 1,900 sq. km at Stikine River, 60 km southwest of Dease Lake; 33.5 sq. km at Mount Edziza, 90 km south of Dease Lake; and 5.5 sq. km at Apex Mountain, 30 km west of Penticton.

“This reflects our commitment to bring the greater land-base certainty needed to revitalize B.C.’s economy,” says Energy and Mines Minister Richard Neufeld.
