A first phase of drilling by Avalon Ventures (AVL-V) is testing the resource potential of the Dubenksi gold project, 70 km southeast of Kenora, Ont.
The property already contains a resource of 253,000 tons grading 0.24 oz.
gold per ton above the 380-ft. level, as calculated by previous operators.
Drilling, which will cover a minimum of 3,280 ft., will test for extensions of the Shaft zone along strike and at depth, where mineralization remains open below the 380-ft. level.
The program will also test the Peninsula zone, which is 2,000 ft. along strike east of the Shaft zone. Previous drilling at the Peninsula zone, which remains open, returned up to 0.22 oz. gold over 11 ft., 0.27 oz. over 6 ft., and 0.86 oz. over 4 ft.
Gold mineralization at the Dubenski property occurs as smears of fine-grained disseminations in highly altered rocks of the Flint Lake shear zone.
