Almost 30,000 oz. for Sleeping Giant

Gold production in 1989 from Aurizon Mines’ (TSE) Sleeping Giant mine in Quebec was 29,552 oz. For the fourth quarter gold output totalled 7,607 oz. from 34,652 tons of rock grading 0.19 oz. gold per ton. For the year, the millhead grade was 0.20 oz. gold, Aurizon says.

The 1989 output exceeded the mine budget for that year by 5,617 oz. of gold and mill recoveries averaged 94.7%. No mining cost figures were released by the company.

Exploration at the property resulted in the discovery of a new north-south trending quartz vein 260 ft. west of the mine workings. Drilling has outlined a reserve of 30,000 tons grading 0.19 oz. gold in the new zone.
