BHP takes out JV potash partner

VANCOUVER — BHP Billiton (BHP-N, BLT-L) is moving decisively into the potash business by acquiring its joint-venture partner Anglo Potash (AGP-V, AGPOF-O) in an all-cash deal worth $284 million.





Production has increased at La Mancha Resources' Hassai gold project in Sudan, but that didn't help the company's bottom line in the first quarter. The company saw a net loss of $2.4 million, up from $1.4 million in the same period of 2007.
