The latest results from an underground drilling program at the old Duquesne gold mine project north of Rouyn-Noranda, Que., confirm the continuity to the west of the main mineralized zones between the 7th and 9th levels, Radisson Mining Resources (ME) reports. Among the assays are short intersections of high-grade material, including 3.41 oz. gold per ton over 3.1 ft. in hole DU8-56, 1.32 oz. over 4.4 ft. in hole DU8-58, 0.44 oz. over 6.8 ft. in hole DU8-60, 0.44 oz. over 6.2 ft. in hole DU8-63 and 11.46 oz. over 4.9 ft. in hole DU8-64.
Underground drilling continues in the West extension. Surface drilling to delimit the East extension is in progress.
Radisson completed recently the test milling of a 27,500-ton bulk sample. President Guy Bourassa said a 96% recovery rate was achieved, at an average grade of 0.26 oz. The treatment was performed at the Sleeping Giant mill north of Amos, Que.
As of Nov. 1, Radisson began trucking material to the old Kerr mill at Virginiatown, Ont.; the mill is owned by Deak Resources (TSE) and one of Deak’s affiliates. The initial shipment will total 6,200 tons; future monthly shipments will rise to 6,600 tons. The contract with Deak will run until June, 1991.
Bourassa said the material being shipped to Virginiatown is being extracted from four levels and seven stopes. Future development work costing $2-3 million, which when completed will hopefully allow Radisson to enter commercial production at Duquesne, is planned, he said.
