Westmin explores Dragon property

Toronto-listed Westmin Resources will continue to explore the Dragon property on Vancouver Island, B.C., under the terms of a previously negotiated option-joint venture agreement with Doromin Resources (VSE).

Westmin has completed a preliminary evaluation of the property aimed at establishing the extent of the favorable Myra Formation stratigraphy that could potentially host a volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit similar to that at Myra Falls. Westmin’s Myra Falls mine has operated continuously for 26 years and produced more than 14 million tons of copper, lead, zinc, gold and silver ores.

The favorable volcanic and sedimentary rocks were found to outcrop on the Dragon property. Future field programs will include mapping and lithogeochemical and soil sampling to evaluate the distribution of the favorable lithologic units before stratigraphic drilling of the rhyolitic strata.
