The managing director of the Quebec Mining Association, Claude Drouin, will officially retire Aug. 31. Appointed to the managing director’s post is Dan Tolgyesi.
Drouin, who has a doctorate in mining environment, has been with the association for almost 22 years. He spent the last seven years in the director’s chair. The association plans to formally honor him at its general meeting in December.
Quebec’s minister of energy and resources, Lise Bacon, paid tribute to Drouin in June at the association’s annual meeting
“Over the last few years, Mr. Drouin has worked at convincing the industry of the importance of combining mining development and sustainable development,” she said. “He has achieved this goal.”
Tolgyesi, who has a long service record with the association as a board member, has worked for Minnova Inc. in Quebec as its managing director for the past five years.
