Aurizon Mines’ earnings slip

The recent first quarter saw the earnings of Aurizon Mines (TSE) drop to $570,270 from $1.3 million for the same period in 1994.

In 1994, however, earnings included gains of $626,024, or 2 cents a share, from the sale and issuance of shares by an associated company.

Net earnings from mining operations were $633,112, or 2 cents per share, compared with $680,934, or 2 cents per share, for the same quarter of 1994.

Revenue from operations amounted to $2.97 million, compared with $2.87 million a year ago.

At Quebec’s Sleeping Giant mine, which is jointly owned with Cambior (TSE), gold production was 10,922 oz., roughly equivalent to the 10,882 oz. produced a year earlier.

Aurizon has also been producing gold from test mining activities at the Beaufor project near Val d’Or, Que. This project is a joint venture with Louvem Mines (TSE).
