Study demonstrates competitive cost impact of SX-EW

The results of a new study by Behre Dolbear & Co. of Denver demonstrate the competitive cost impact of solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) mining operations.

The consulting firm says the costing analysis in the study includes both conventional (mine-mill) and SX-EW operations.

The study is contained in five volumes consisting of an executive summary, three area reports for conventional mining operations and a separate volume for SX-EW operations.

The area report volumes and the SX-EW volume include individual historical data, information on concentrate flows and detailed operating cost calculations for labor, electricity, supplies and fuels for both mining and milling operations.

Historical production and technical data are included in the study; operating costs are presented in both constant and current dollars to the year 2000.
