In a grassroots program, Waseco Resources (WSCO-C) and Blue Emerald Resources (BER-V) have identified several gold prospects at the Walang project in Indonesia.
The project comprises 7,625 ha on the northwestern margin of the Bayah Dome in western Java. Each partner holds a 45% interest, with the remainder held by a private Indonesian company.
Mapping and geochemical sampling uncovered 17 prospects, four of which are believed to be surface expressions of underlying epithermal systems.
Grab samples from silicified outcrops returned 0.01-1.67 grams gold per tonne. Although these results are by no means spectacular, they are believed to be significant in that the metals in the area are known to have undergone surface leaching through oxidation, which has reduced surface gold and silver values.
The partners are digging trenches on three of the four prospects in an attempt to identify drill targets. Work at the fourth prospect, which exists on an adjacent property, has been suspended owing to permitting problems.
Additional work is also planned for the remaining 13 targets.
In light of the reconnaissance work, Waseco and Blue Emerald have optioned an additional 4,029 ha from a private Indonesian company.
