Kodiak Copper (TSXV: KDK; US-OTC: KDKCF) aims to complete a full maiden resource at its MPD copper-gold project in southern British Columbia next quarter after publishing the first tranche in June.
The goal since acquiring MPD six years ago has been to demonstrate “major mine” potential, with the second part set to bring three more zones into the resource statement, said CEO Claudia Tornquist.
“It is really a maiden resource in the true sense of the word in that we know already that it will grow,” Tornquist said during the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, Colorado. She added that all zones remain open with “low-hanging” expansion targets set for further drilling.
The first portion of the estimate, released in June, covers the Gate, Ketchan, Man and Dillard deposits, all modelled for open pit mining. These deposits underpin 56.4 million tonnes indicated at 0.31% copper, 0.14 gram gold and 1.18 grams silver per tonne for a copper-equivalent grade of 0.42%. That accounts for 385 million lb. of contained copper, 250,000 oz. gold and 2.14 million oz. silver, or 522 million lb. of copper equivalent.
Kodiak plans to add the West, Adit and South zones in the second update, following this year’s 5,000 metres of drilling. Tornquist continues to flag district scale with seven mineralized zones and about 20 additional targets on a 344-sq.-km land package.
