At press time trading was moderately active with the VSE Index off marginally to 828.93, although up 8.84 points from a week ago.
Coral Gold Corp., which is about to join the ranks of Nevada gold producers with its Robertson mine project, was among the more active gold issues moving up a dime to $4.90.
Houston Metals gained 1 cents to 32 cents after announcing a name change, consolidation of its share capital and debt settlement. The company says its polymetallic Silver Queen mine project near Houston, B.C. still has good exploration potential despite a recent negative feasibility study.
And Continental Pacific Resources was ahead a dime to 60 cents . The company is launching an aggressive exploration effort for gold and base metals in several areas of the Northwest Territories.
Calpine Resources gained 19 cents to $2.60 in active trading over our report period. Investors appear to be bullish on the Eskay Creek project in British Columbia where the latest holes returned 113.2 ft of 0.440 oz gold and 3 oz silver and 39.4 ft of 0.987 oz gold and 1.06 oz silver. Calpine’s partner, Consolidated Stikine Silver also moved ahead, gaining $1.18 to $13.68.
Prime Resources, which recently declared its intent to acquire all Calpine’s shares, dropped 70 cents to $4.05.
TRV Minerals gained 3 cents to 21 cents in active trading based on news it had made a private placement in Inter- Globe Resources. Inter-Globe is discussing the possibility of producing vanadium from a previously drilled open pit deposit on the Gibellini property near Eureka, Nev.
Pierce Mountain Resources, which has been encountering exploration success at its gold project in the Snow Lake area of Manitoba, gained a further 29 cents to $1.75.
Tenajon Resources moved ahead a nickel to $1.05 after announcing geological reserves for its road- accessed SB project near Stewart, B.C. Suntac Minerals, also a Northair Group associated company, was ahead a dime to 80 cents . The company is exploring the old Polaris Taku mine in northern British Columbia for its production potential.
Skyline Gold dropped a further 50 cents to $6.25 on light volume. The company is continuing discussions with majors in an effort to find a joint venture partner for its B.C. gold mine.
