A report on three proposed uranium mining projects in Saskatchewan will be complete by Oct. 15, says Canadian Press.
Donald Lee, chairman of the panel studying the developments, estimated the panel has heard more than 300 presentations. One of its problems will be organizing the various opinions into an understandable form, he said. Hearings wrapped up recently in Saskatoon with several people making concluding remarks.
The panel will recommend whether the three projects in question should proceed. Lee said some secondary recommendations will be included, such as whether the government should have a fuller public education program on uranium.
The projects in question are an open pit at Cluff Lake, in northwestern Saskatchewan, and two underground mines in the Wollaston Lake area.
