THE GLOBAL SEARCH FOR GOLD SPECIAL — Kazakhs to boost gold production

Kazakhstan produced about 14.9 tonnes of gold last year and government officials are pushing to boost production to 50 tonnes by the year 2,000.

Interfax News Agency reports that the program to boost production will include the upgrading of several mills, as well as the commissioning of several heap-leach facilities.
