Tenajon Resources (VSE) has released assay results from the first four holes drilled to test the Storm zone on the SB property near Stewart, B.C.
The zone is believed to be a faulted-off portion of the 35 zone, which was sucessfully mined in 1992 as part of a joint venture with Westmin Resources (TSE). SB is a joint venture held equally by the two companies. The first hole of this year’s program intersected 26.9 ft. grading 0.3 oz. gold per ton, while a second hole drilled over the zone returned no significant assays. Hole three returned 21.7 ft. of 0.11 oz. gold per ton and hole four returned 77.1 ft. of 0.38 oz. gold. These holes were all drilled at an oblique angle to the zone, with the true width estimated at between 10 and 20 ft.
Tenajon also released results from previous holes, now interpreted to be part of a continuous block of mineralization as shown by 1993 drilling. Results from these holes are 23 ft. of 1.12 oz. gold per ton, 29.5 ft. of 0.24 oz. gold and 13.1 ft. of 0.16 oz. gold.
The Storm zone is within 49 ft. of the underground workings on the SB property. Ongoing work will be aimed at proving up a reserve that could be processed at Westmin’s Premier gold mill, outside Stewart.
However, Tenajon Vice-President Fred Hewett cautions that more work is needed before the economic evaluation of the Storm zone can be determined. Tenajon is evaluating results from its second-phase program on the Alamos copper oxide property 180 miles southeast of Hermosillo, Mexico. Eight holes were completed and some of the more significant intersections include 157 ft. of 0.51% copper, 59 ft. of 0.53% copper and 39.3 ft. of 0.94% copper. Tenajon also has a 20% interest in a diamond exploration venture in the Northwest Territories. Based on a recent airborne geophysical survey, the joint venture staked 34,000 acres to cover 40 magnetic anomalies considered prospective for kimberlite pipes.
