The new investment climate and mining opportunities in the Philippines will be discussed at an April 7 breakfast seminar at the offices of the Toronto Board of Trade.
The seminar, to run from 8 to 11 a.m., will be conducted by the Philippine Board of Investment, to be represented by its director for basic industries, Elmer Hernandez, and the Philippine Trade Commission, to be represented by its trade commissioner, Ma. Roseni M. Alvero.
A new Mining Law, coming into effect April 18 in the Philippines, will allow foreign companies to take up to a 100% equity interest in a mining venture and exempt firms from paying duties on imported equipment used for startup operations. It will also change the rules on profit-sharing between Philippine miners and their foreign partners.
For more information, telephone the Board of Trade at (416) 366-6811 or the Philippine Trade Commission at (416) 967-1788.
