Soquem and Billiton make exploration deal

A $7-million joint exploration agreement has been reached between private mining firm Billiton Metals Canada and the Quebec Crown corporation Soquem.

The agreement, with an initial term of four years, provides for the partners to invest $1 million the first year and $2 million annually for the duration of the deal. Soquem will manage the operations, which will focus on a group of townships in the Joutel-Matagami region, where Billiton’s Selbaie copper-zinc-gold-silver mine is situated.
