The second 2-week Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop will take place in the City of Greater Sudbury and the surrounding region, in Ontario, from May 3 to 17, 2008.
The first such workshop was held this May.
Some 20 third and fourth-year geoscience students from across Canada are selected to participate in the all-expenses-paid workshop, which will introduce them to the mining cycle, with an emphasis on mineral exploration and economic geology.
Various lectures, presentations and practicum will cover mineral exploration techniques, geophysics, geochemistry, environmental issues, careers in geoscience and other topics. Presenters will come from industry and academia.
A 5-day field trip is planned, as well as other hands-on events.
