Quebec releases new geological maps

Quebec’s ministry of natural resources has published 20 new geological maps based on geographical information system (GIS) technology.

The System d’information Gominiere a rfrence spatiale (SIGOM) will provide information on more than 100 years of geoscientific work in the province. The system can also be used to locate 60,000 past reports produced by mining companies and the ministry.

Also recorded on SIGOM are the locations of diamond drill projects under way in Quebec.

For more information, contact the ministry at (418) 643-4601. Fax (418) 644-3804.
