Drilling by QEX Resources (ME) has encountered gold-silver-zinc-lead mineralization at the former New Calumet mine, 100 km northwest of Hull, Que.
Three vertical holes drilled into the footwall of the Main zone of the mine intersected 4.3-5.5 metres of sphalerite-galena mineralization. Grades ranged from 1.07% to 3.89% zinc, 0.85% to 2.32% lead, 157 to 288 grams silver and 5.2 to 12.7 grams gold per tonne.
QEX is also testing the tailings ponds at New Calumet, to determine whether gold and silver can be recovered economically from the old wastes.
