Pangea Goldfields (CDN) has outlined several significant soil geochemical anomalies on the Bulyanhulu South gold property in Tanzania’s Lake Victoria gold field.
Values of up to 9 grams per tonne were identified in soil samples and the anomalous zones can be traced for up to 10 km. Pangea believes these results may be indicative of “Bulyanhulu-type” gold mineralization.
The Bulyanhulu deposit lies within 500 metres of the Pangea property and contains 3.9 million tonnes grading 13 grams. The mineralization occurs in near-vertical, parallel, en echelon, pyrite-chalcopyrite-bearing quartz veins averaging 4.3 metres in thickness. The veins lie under a 50-metre-thick laterite cover.
Graphite also occurs in the deposit, rendering the veins relatively easy to pursue using geophysical methods. Ground geophysical surveys are in progress over a 7,200-by-4,000-metre area in an effort to pinpoint drill targets. Pangea holds rights to 37 properties in Tanzania, which comprise 3,300 sq. km in total and are either wholly owned or held through options and joint ventures.
