Calgary-based Orogrande Resources (ORG-A) is prospecting for gold and copper at its Bellas Gate concessions in Jamaica.
The concessions, totalling 42 sq. miles, are 40 miles northwest of Kingston in a region where copper mining dates back to the 1850s.
Orogrande is following up drilling performed in the early 1990s by Golden Gate Resources (GGS-V) and by Orogrande itself. Many of these drill targets were identified in a 1988 stream-sediment survey sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency.
Orogrande is awaiting results from 600 soil samples and 300 rock samples collected in late 1996.
