Queenston and Strike Minerals have signed a formal joint venture agreement on the Robertson Twp. base metal property near Matachewan, Ont., giving Strike a 40% interest in the project. The partners are halfway through an 8-10 hole, 10,000-ft. program to follow up encouraging copper-zinc assays, and expect to release results early in April. Rumor has it they are finding more sulphide mineralization at depth. Strike reacted to speculation in the week ended March 19, picking up 10 cents to close at 65 cents on a volume of 153,200 shares.
Neighbor CopperQuest, which is planning to run an airborne survey over its Robertson Twp. claims, says it will also plug four holes into its Bear Lake base metal property near Flin Flon, Man., to test electromagnetic anomalies. Trading 138,000 shares, CopperQuest gained 8 cents to close at 28 cents. Another hole at the company’s Shoal Lake property in northwestern Ontario returned a wide interval of graphite, President James Parres says.
Across the provincial border, Freewest’s gold discovery in Benoit Twp., Que., continues to affect the stock prices of juniors with nearby claims. Mint Gold Resources, which acquired 24 claims in Benoit a few weeks ago, gained 10 cents this week to close at 85 cents. Matt Berry Mines lost 1 cents to 17 cents on thin volume after picking up 68 claims in Duplessis Twp. to the west.
Starratt Nickel Mines has purchased 15,000 shares of Madsen Gold for $3,630. Trading 500 shares, Starratt remained steady at 3 cents.
