OLS picnic aims to attract geodetic professionals

The geodetic committee of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors has scheduled its second annual picnic for Sept. 28.

The event, to be held at the University of Toronto’s Erindale College in Mississauga, Ont., will feature an exhibition entitled “Integrated Applications in Geodesy for Surveying, Engineering, Imaging, GIS/Mapping, Data Presentation and Co-ordinate Systems.”

Presentations will be geared toward surveyors, mappers, engineers, and users of geographic information systems and global positioning systems.

Geodesy is the science of determining the exact position of points on the earth’s surface, the shape and size of the earth, and variations in gravity and magnetism.
