Obituraries Dick Murray

Murray joined the Ontario Department of Mines in 1955. For more than 22 years he carried out regular inspections and engineering reviews of the mines in the Kenora, Red Lake and Pickle Lake areas for the department and its successor agencies. He retired in 1978.

Prior to joining the Department of Mines, he served as mine manager at the Gold Eagle Mine in Red Lake, as well as holding engineering positions at a number of other Ontario mines.

Murray graduated from Queen’s University in 1939 with a B.Sc. in mining engineering, served with the R.C.A.F. as a bomber pilot from 1941 to 1945, and was a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
