OBITUARY — Dominic Giachino

Dominic Matthew Giachino, a native of Cobalt, Ont., died Jan. 31 after a lengthy illness.

Giachino graduated first from Haileybury School of Mines, and then in 1933 from Queen’s University as a mining engineer. His career spanned exploration, mine management and consulting principally in northern Quebec and Ontario. He retired as vice-president of mining for Lac Minerals in 1975.

Giachino always expressed pride and enthusiasm for mining and a respect for his colleagues in the industry.
