Nymex, Comex approve merger

Members of both the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) and the Commodity Exchange (Comex) of New York voted recently in favor of merging the two futures exchanges.

Nymex, the world’s major trader of oil contracts, also trades platinum and palladium contracts. Comex trades gold, silver and copper contracts. Nymex members voted 468-94 in favor, while Comex members voted 477-181 for the merger.

The new trading corporation will be known as he New York Mercantile Exchange.
