Drilling has begun at a base metal discovery at Lac Rocher, 112 km north of Matagami, Que.
The operator of the project is Nuinsco Resources (NWI-T), which is exploring the property under an option from prospectors who identified a bedrock exposure of gabbroic to ultramafic rocks with disseminated nickel-copper mineralization. Geophysical surveys conducted by the company over the 320-ha property identified an anomalous area over the known mineralization measuring 900 metres by 200 metres. Other anomalies have also been identified.
Preliminary sampling by Nuinsco recovered two channel samples from the outcrop grading 0.53% nickel and 0.3% copper over 14 metres.
According to the terms of the option agreement, Nuinsco must make payments of $25,000 and 50,000 treasury shares and commit to spend a minimum of $50,000 on exploration in the first year. The option can run for up to three years, and the company can earn a 100% interest by making additional payments and expenditures.
