Noranda, Central release results from 2 areas of Eagle River bet

Encouraging drilling results have been obtained by Noranda Exploration and Central Crude from two areas of the 290-claim Eagle River gold prospect located 30 miles from Wawa, Ont., in the Mishibishu Lake area.

Results of nine drill holes from area 3 and 8 have been announced, although the companies say assays reported for six of the holes (87-4 to 87-9) have not been checked.

Holes 87-1 to 87-3 tested a sulphide rich silicified auriferous volcanic series of rocks along a 650-ft strike length in area 3. All holes were drilled south at an inclination of –45 degrees.

Width Grade Hole (ft) (oz/t) 87-1 1.4 0.06 87-2 3.3 0.03 87-3 9.9 0.13

Holes 87-4 to 87-9 in area 8 tested an auriferous quartz vein within an altered shear zone along a 500-ft strike length. All holes were drilled south at an inclination of –45 degrees. The zone is open to the east and west. Among the better results were the following:

Width Grade Hole (ft) (oz/t) 87-4 16.4 (uncut)0.11

3.3 0.12 87-9 7.7 un(cut)0.41

(uncut)1.11 9.8 (uncut)0.09

Noranda operates the property for Hemlo Gold Mines (of which Noranda is the controlling shareholder) and under an agreement with Central Crude, Hemlo may earn a 60% interest in the property by spending $1 million by Sept 1, 1989, in addition to a cash payment of $90,000.

Central Crude is funding (up to $500,000) the current drilling program; these funds will be credited to Central Crude when a joint- venture has been formed.

In other news, Central Crude recently completed a soil sampling program on the 99-claim Joutel Resources property located on the north limb of the Mishibishu Lake belt, 12 miles northwest of the Eagle River claims. Central Crude may earn a 50% interest in the property by spending $400,000 on exploration work.
