NEWS ROUNDUP — Belmont to revive granite quarry

Later this month, Belmont Rose Granite, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastern Stone Products (ASE), plans to reopen its granite quarry near Havelock, Ont.

Two North American monument manufacturers have already “prebought” all May and June production from the quarry, and Eastern Stone expects additional production will be snapped up by two other manufacturers.

Belmont may have to buy more quarry equipment to meet increased demand for dimensional stone blocks. It has also been trying to market more processed slab, panel and thin tiles.
