NEWS ROUNDUP — Battle Mountain options Gold Creek

A New York-listed major familiar with skarn deposits will test such a prospect in western Montana.

Battle Mountain Gold (NYSE) has signed an agreement with Blue Ribbon Resources (VSE) to earn a 60% interest in the latter’s Gold Creek gold-copper property. In return, it must pay US$300,000 and spend US$2 million on exploration.

Battle Mountain has explored skarn deposits through its work on the Crown Jewel gold deposit in northeast Washington state.

The Gold Creek skarn is at the headwaters of major placer gold deposits and has already been explored with geophysics and 11 drill holes. Meanwhile, Blue Ribbon intends to continue acquiring properties in South America’s Guyana Shield. It has projects in Suriname and plans to acquire an interest in a gold concession in Guyana.
